Engineers Ireland promotes the art and science of engineering and represents the profession. It also operates a
considerable outreach programme that promotes engineering as a career.
This STEPS to engineering programme includes:
- The K’NEX Challenge, which involves approximately 1,000 primary schools each year in a construction toy competition
- The Magical Science and Engineering Show, which supports the Social, Environmental and Scientific Education section of the Primary School Curriculum
- Seminars and second-level school visits that inform students and promote the benefits of engineering as a career
- Summer camps for second-level students
- A range of support and information resources for teachers
- With a number of other bodies, Engineers Ireland also operates the Are You Up For IT? campaign to promote careers in technology
